Kayaw People

Kayaw, or Bwe, is an ethnic group of the Kerenni bloc, present in Myanmar and Thailand. In Myanmar they are among the less known ethnic minorities. Supposed to be around 15,000, they live in an area of Kayan State that has been opened to foreign tourism in 2014 only. All the women wear traditional clothes, have leg rings, circular earrings, and elaborate necklaces. Many of them only spoke their tribal language, and could not understand Burmese, Myanmar national language. They can be found also in North Thailand where they refugees from Myanmar. In Thailand, they are called Kor Yor.
