5 Days Cambodia-Vietnam Cycling Tour from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City

Phnom Penh Cycling Ho Chi Minh City is the best way to explore the ‘rice bowl’ of Vietnam, the delta is carpeted in a dizzying variety of greens. It’s a water world that moves to the rhythms of the mighty Mekong, where boats, houses and markets float upon the innumerable rivers, canals and streams that criss-cross the landscape like arteries.
TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Phnom Penh – Takeo (L/D) (40-60 km)
8:00 AM our team pick you up from your hotel and have a short transfer to the Phnom Penh capital. Begin to cycle with a visit to Ta Phrom and Yeary Pov temples (12 century). Take a break for water and snacks before heading to Phnom Chisor to visit the hilltop 11th-century temple. Have a picnic lunch at a local cafe in the countryside. In the afternoon, cycle to Takeo, passing by Ta Mok’s house, the former general commander of the Khmer Rouge (Pol pot). Takeo is a less visited town with many relations to history. Board the boat for sunset to Phnom Da to visit the hilltop temple former the capital of the Khmer Empire in the early century known as Funan. Overnight in Mittapheap Guesthouse

Day 2: Takeo – Chau Doc (B/L/D) (50-75 km)
Have an early breakfast. Cycle 50 km to Phnom Den border crossing point (Tinh Bien border) Take a break halfway for water. After immigration, say goodbye to our Cambodian driver and bike guide. Lunch at the local restaurant at the border. After lunch, cycle to discover the Mekong Delta road into the beautiful green countryside. Along the way, you will see rice fields and water buffalos nearby the road. After arrival in Chau Doc, those with energy to spare can climb Sam Mountain for sunset! Overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 3: Chau Doc – Can Tho (B/L/D) (40-70 km)
After breakfast, we leave for the floating houses on the upper Mekong river by boat where we can see plenty of catfish, red snapper, and other fish breeding right under their houses; what is an amazing life! Then keep boating to visit the Cham village with about 12,000 people who are weaving sarongs and hats by hand, in keeping their ancestral tradition. Back to the hotel for check out and then have a short van/bus transfer out of the smuggling town of Chau Doc. Start by biking to Long Xuyen city, then cross the rice bowl of Vietnam. Day 4: Can Tho – Tra Vinh (B/L/D) (75-90 km)
After breakfast, enjoy a boat ride to Cai Rang floating market, your boat will cruise through the market slowly as you admire the biggest floating market in Delta. Then start cycling on paths to Cau Ke via Tra On. Lunch will be at a local restaurant in this town. In the afternoon, cycle on narrow country lanes to visit a Khmer village in the countryside of Tieu Can. Stop for coffee before riding through a huge rice field to Tra Vinh.

Day 5: Tra Vinh – Ben Tre – Saigon (B/L) (25-50 km)
Begin your last ride at the local ferry station. The cycle routes in Ben Tre countryside are very unique. All footpaths are concrete going through beautiful villages among coconut trees. This is a chance to cross many small natural creeks by little ferries with school boys and girls. Have a transfer to Saigon after you have a late lunch. check-in your hotel. END THE TOUR.
