5 Days Chiang Mai Doi Inthanon National Park Trekking Tour

Explore unique flora and fauna in Thai premier national park. On this Doi Inthanon trekking tour you get a chance to stay in a traditional Karen village, nestled in the mountains. This is a nice trek if you are feeling energetic, but it is not too strenuous as it takes in numerous stops along the way – rice paddies, the King’s agricultural project, waterfalls, lush farmland and ethnic minority villages.

ITINERARY
DAY 1
We pick you up at 8 AM from your accommodation or convenient location in Chiang Mai city and drive straight to the highest peak in Thailand – Doi Inthanon. We have a short hike at the top and then drive a short distance to King and Queen pagodas.
From there we have another short drive to our trekking start point and begin to trek for two hours before lunch to enjoy the surrounding flora and fauna. This is a wonderfully scenic trek in the jungle.

During rainy season (May to November), some trails are closed, and trek before lunch might not be possible. In this case we will only do an afternoon trek.
After the trek we have a lunch break at a local Hmong village near park’s headquarters. Your guide can show you around the village and explain about the daily life of the villagers. We also explore the Royal Agriculture Project where villagers plant a variety of farm crops, fruits, orchids, and other flowers.

After lunch we start a 1,5 hour trek in an area studded with waterfalls and you can also stop and refresh along the way. This is an area with virtually no tourists where you can enjoy the pristine beauty of this natural park.

Our final destination is Mae Klang Luang village surrounded by rice terraces and coffee plantations. We have dinner in the village and spend the night as guests of the villagers in a home stay.

Meals included: Lunch and dinner
Accommodation: Karen village home stay
DAY 2
After breakfast in the village, your guide shows you the village and tells you about the local community. When the school is open, you can stop by and say hi to the kids. Then we explore the surrounding farmland, rice fields and coffee plantations and learn about farming methods in the area. Depending on season, you could join the farmers for some hands on experience.
From the village, we set off on a trek in the forest to Watchiratan waterfall. This trek takes about three to four hours, depending on your pace and the number of stops we make. The trail is unknown to tourists, so we rarely meet any. On the way, we stop for a lunch break in the lush forest.

At Watchiratan waterfall, our driver waits to take us back to Chiang Mai. We arrive to the city in the late afternoon.

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch
