5 Days Vietnam-Cambodia Cycling Tour from Ho Chi Minh City To Phnom Penh

Saigon Cycling To Phnom Penh usually from HCMC or Cambodia, though flying in is also possible. Once you’re there, the best way to experience life on the river is by boat. Day-trips and multi-daycycling journeys are perfectly easy to organise and needn’t break the bank.
TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Saigon – Ben Tre (L/D) (25 – 45 km)
8:AM pick up from your hotel and after an hour drive through Saigon city to Tan An countryside to start a morning ride of 25 km. You ride on concrete paths, pass ride farm villages, through rice paddy fields, and vegetable plantations and you will have many stops at local markets to try some tropical fruits, and visit some family workshops. Stop for lunch in My Tho city. After lunch in My Tho city, you will have a 40 minutes transfer by van/minibus to Rach Mieu bridge for an afternoon easy ride. You will have an easy ride through many coconut gardens, and lovely countryside along the way to Ben Tre city

Day 2: Ben Tre – Cho Lach – Can Tho (B/L/D) (30 – 80 km)
We will have a chance to see morning activities at a local place in the town of Ben Tre before you have breakfast at the hotel. Today’s cycling on back roads mostly in the removed villages off the beaten track and we will cross many small branches of the Mekong River by little ferries. Your lunch will be served at the home of locals in Cai Mon’s countryside. In the afternoon, we continue wandering by bike into the lush green countryside, ride pass nursery gardens, ornamental plants, and rambutan fruit orchards to Dinh Khao ferry via Cho Lanh, Vinh Binh. We end up our today’s ride Dinh Khao ferry and have an hour transfer by vehicle to Can Tho in the late afternoon

Day 3: Can Tho – Sadec – Cao Lanh (B/L/D) (40 – 70 km)
Today, you will see a busy Cai Rang floating market before you have a bicycle ride to Sadec town. In the morning, you will ride through a sweet potato field, and cycle pass many family workshops which produced rice and sticky rice powder. Then we continue to cycle along natural creeks on a single track to Sadec. Your lunch is well-prepared at Huynh Thuy Le’s ancient house. In the afternoon, you will have an opportunity to admire many flower gardens, ornamental plants, nursery gardens, bonsai trees, and mango orchards on your way of cycling to Cao Lanh city

Day 4: Cao Lanh – My Luong Chau Doc (B/L/) (40-70 kms)
Today you will discover the lowland of Doing Thap province. It is the lowest farming land in Mekong Delta’ in Vietnam. Many border provinces including Dong Thap have a yearly flooded season. That’s why the last yearly rice harvests usually take place before the flooded season comes. You can see most locals living on stilt houses and each house usually owns its small sampan boat. The highlight of today is to stop at the monastery which was built after the French invasion. It was inaugurated in 1877 and is three years older than the Notre Dame Cathedral in Saigon. After you have lunch in Cho Moi, we continue to rock and roll on the bike on unique countryside back roads passing new farming land, riding across huge farming land, and having a ferry crossing Basac River to Chau Doc border town.

Day 5: Chau Doc – Phnom Penh by high speeds boat (B/L)
You will have an early start from the hotel for Cambodia today. Your guide will pick up you at 6:40 at your hotel after your breakfast, and take you to the dock for high speed leaving at 7:30 am. A local guide of Hang Chau’s boat company will accompany you on a boat trip from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh. He is also helping you with visa applications at the border gate. This is a chance you can enjoy the beautiful scenery and local life on the water on the Mekong River from Chau Doc to Phnom Penh city. The picnic lunch box is included.
