Windsor Park & Golf Club Description:
(well designed parkland style course)
The Windsor Park Golf & Sports Club designed by Golfplan’s Ronald Fream & David Dale of the USA created this natural large park setting on the outskirts of Bangkok makes it ideal for golf visitors. With more than 6,000 colorful plants and trees, the play is relaxed and nature-oriented.
Tree-lined fairways, greenside bunkers, sweeping creeks and ponds, and sloping greens exemplify the challenges at Windsor Park.Formerly known as Panya Park, Windsor Park boasts two 18-hole courses with the A, B and C Courses being older and contrasting D Course coming on stream in 2006. Although the golf course tends to be short, water comes into play on almost every hole, so accuracy is a must.  Greens are very undulated but kept on the slow side to cater to golfers of all abilities.

The Lagoon (A Course) / Palm (B Course) combination, stretches to just over 6900 yards of classic parkland golf, with lovely landscaping. On the A Course opening hole, tall palms line the fairway, while water makes the first of many appearances, seriously protecting the approach shot to a well-bunkered green. Quite often, the view from the tee will feature a good-width fairway, flanked by substantial bunkering on one side and vast stretch on the other.

Approach shots include water carries to island greens, sharp dog-legs, or deep greenside bunkering. Even though some of the holes run parallel to each other, the area in between holes is densely forested. The par-3 3rd hole on the B Course features solid bunkers from tee and green.

The D course is much more of an extreme challenge. This nine at Windsor Park plays around a human-made lake and requires very accurate tee and approach shots to prevent balls rolling into the water. Undulating and close cut greens enhance the challenge even more and can be very frustrating even for the best professional golfers.

For example, the long par-5 3rd has a canal down the entire left and out of bounds along the right. The narrow, long green sits at a left angle to the fairway, and a very aggressive drive kept left might tempt to take the green in two. But a full water carry and a small landing area make this risky.

The Windsor Park golf course upkeep is about average as compared to other Bangkok courses. The large clubhouse which overlooks the course C 9th hole is quite old and could make use of a renovation. Nevertheless, the restaurant serves excellent western breakfasts as well as the usual Thai and Asian selections. The Windsor Park staff is friendly and attentive.  Request one of the more experienced and English speaking caddies otherwise green reading and club selection will be difficult.

Windsor Park Golf Club is a favorite among locals and is also popular with Korean golfers. Nevertheless, it is a decent choice for those looking for a reasonably priced Bangkok golf course away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
