Day 1 Welcome to Hanoi!

Welcome to Vietnam! Upon arrival, our guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to Hotel for check in. then rest are at your leisure.

Day 2 Leisure Day in Hanoi | Water Puppet Show

Today is at your leisure to recuperating your physical power after a long time flight.

The evening will start with a Water Puppet Showperformed by the world renowned Thang Long Opera House. This performance features a talent unique to Vietnam. You’ll watch as water puppets perform the folklore legends of Vietnam while live ethnic music sets the mood.

After the show, you’ll enjoy traditional Vietnamese cuisineat Indochina Restaurant which features a French colonial style with imperial overtures.

Once you finish your dinner, you’ll be escorted to your hotel.

Day 3 Hanoi – the 100 Year Old City

Today you will start the tour at 11:00am to the Tran Quoc Pagoda. This 1,400 year old temple features ten tiers enclosed by gardens, including a bodhi tree grown from a cutting of the original Buddhist tree under which Buddha sat. Stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake where you’ll see the Tortoise Tower perched on the water. Enjoy a half hour cyclo tour through Hanoi’s the Old Quarter. The cyclo is a historic mode of transportation in the cities of Vietnam where a cyclist leads you while you sit in a canopied seat affixed to the front. Next, visit Hoa Lo Prison and One Pillar Pagoda, situated on a pillar made of a single stone, in the midst of a lotus pond. This pagoda was built by a 9th century emperor who saw it in a dream and regarded this as divine inspiration to recreate the structure in his vision. After the tour transfer back to hotel.

Day 4 Half Day Bat Trang Potery Village

Go to Bat Trang Village – a famous Vietnamese Traditional Pottery Village, 15km from Hanoi. It was found 500 years ago, producing handicrafts with a unique style in special characteristics; design; coloration; sculpture… The history includes many years of research into forms, models, decorations. Enjoy the tour for your own experience about Bat Trang pottery.

Day 5 Hanoi/Cruise along Halong Bay

this morning the cruise company bus will pick you from your hotel in Hanoi travel to Halong Bay, one of the Wonders of the Orient (3 hr. drive). Have lunch while cruising to magnificent Bai Tu Long Bay. We start sailing among famous Islets (Indochina studio, Am Islets…) of Bai Tu Long Bay.

Cruising to visit to exciting Cua Van fishing village, pristine beaches, picturesque floating villages, fantastic rock formations rising up out of emerald water. Day 6 Halong Bay/Return to Hanoi

Wake up to Tai Chi exercises on the sun deck and continue cruising the bays. Breakfast buffet will be served in the restaurant, followed by a visit the limestone grotto. Disembark in Halong City around noon and transfer back to Hanoi .

Day 8 Century Cham Ruins and Hoi An Ancient Port Town

In the morning, travel to the My Son Holy Land. Tucked in the mountains up winding roads with serene views, the 4th century My Son Holy Land ruins. The surrounding mountains are strictly forbidden for living or development. The ruins lie in a beautiful mountainous landscape. Enter the temples to hear all about the history and stories of the Cham people and this holy site.

In the afternoon, continue on to the Ancient Capital of Hoi An, which features the 16th century port town in its preserved state. Visit the Museum of Trade Ceramics which houses art and pottery dating from the 1,500’s to the 1,700’s. Continue on a brief visit the Chua Ong Pagoda, a temple from the 17th century featuring China’s influence in the region. Enter the Ancient Town as the streets take on a magic of their own with old lanterns, French-style houses, intricately carved wooden doors and more Take a walk through the Old Tam Ky House to see it’s imperial styles meshed with French overtures. Continue on to stroll along the river and see traditional boats and locals on bicycles passing by. You’ll then approach the Japanese Covered Bridge which for centuries connected the Chinese and Japanese sides of town over the waterway. The old wooden structure has shown amazing resilience for more than 400 years.

At dusk, enjoy walking along the riverside as colorful lanterns light up the town. Then return to your hotel for an evening of relaxation.

Day 9 Full Day Fishing at Camkim Village

One day “Hoi An fishermen” brings you to Cam Kim fishing village. Here, take small boats to visit charming river sights where you are instructed to row boats, spread a net, put the bow-net, catch fish…Join a riverside restaurant with a ready cooker prepared for you to cook what you have caught from the river. Enjoy the food with a glass of country wine. Finish lunch with a nice cup of tea while making fishing nets, singing & chatting with local fishermen.

Day 11 Mountain Coastal Road to Hue

Your guide will assist with check out. Then take a scenic ride along the mountain coasts of Vietnam (4 hours). Start by riding along the beaches of Danang where you’ll see hundreds of traditional fishing boats scattered along the water with beautiful mountains lining the horizon. As you approach the steep and narrow ascent you’ll find the scenery surreal. Along the way, there is a stretch of road which overlooks a beautiful bay with a small fishing village, perfect for a Facebook photo. Continue your climb to a summit where the clouds meet you. In Chinese, the summit is referred to as “Where the Clouds Meet the Ocean”. Onward through mountains, valleys, countryside, and shorelines you’ll find numerous breathtaking scenes, great places to stop for photos. As you enter Hue, you’ll be impressed by the many imperial signs and impressive houses and buildings. Check in to your hotel in Hue

Day 12 Hue Imperial Citadel and Purple Forbidden City

This morning start with a visit to the Perfume River, renowned for its natural scenery and numerous flowers which envelop it’s shores. Along the river, you’ll view Vietnamese daily life up close. Take a boat ride along the river to the Tomb of Minh Mang, featuring gardens, many steps, and beautiful decorations. Continue on visit Tu Doc, a complex  with the private royal residence and a tomb which also houses the body of one of the wealthiest emperors in Vietnam. Legend has it that his body is buried with vast treasures in an inconspicuous place, which archaeologists have tried but failed to find. Visit the Khai Dinh Tomb, a more modern ornately decorated tomb.

In the afternoon, press on to see the Imperial Hue Citadel – the old capital of Vietnam. This Citadel has a moat and wall perimeter 10 km long. View its vast gardens and structural relics. Walk through the outer perimeter of the city to see many of the national treasures and buildings inside. Venture further in to enter the Purple Forbidden City, which was off limits to the general public. Only royalty and the highest officials in the Vietnamese government were allowed to enter. Last stop of the day is the Dong Ba Market where you can purchase local fruits and foods. After all visiting, rest is your own leisure.

Day 14 Full Day Best of Saigon

This morning, you will start to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels. Discover these amazing systems developed by the guerrillas fighting in the Vietnam War. You’ll have an opportunity to see the various weapons used in the war on display. Then learn about the innovative ways the guerrillas survived and fought back in the war. The impressive underground system they built remains to tell the story of the Vietnam War.

In the afternoon, see the highlights of Saigon and learn the history of these iconic landmarks.

You’ll explore some of the most important sights in Ho Chi Minh. Start by visiting the Notre Dame Cathedral. Constructed by French colonists during their settlement, discover its significance as the largest cathedral in Southeast Asia. Across the road is the Old Saigon Post Office, a neoclassical architectural building considered one of the main attractions in the city. Visit the Reunification Palace, home of South Vietnam’s President during the war. Then stop is Cholon, the Chinatown in Ho Chi Minh. Explore the thickly settled district rife with tea-houses and pagodas, and the famous Binh Tay Market.  Finish the afternoon with a visit to the Emperor Jade Pagoda. Also known as the Tortoise pagoda, this figurine-filled place of worship is considered by many to be Saigon’s finest.

Day 16 Saigon – Can Tho Mekong Delta Discovery

Today you will discover the Mekong River and villages at the Mekong Delta region, essential to Vietnamese life

Your private guide and car will take you to the remote My Tho. This burgeoning capital rests in the Mekong Delta and is surrounded by beautiful countryside known as the “rice basket of Vietnam”. First you’ll Vinh Trang Pagodawhich is decorated with mosaics made from broken pottery. Overlooked by a tall white Buddha, it is set amongst lovely gardens packed with flowers, shrubs, lotus pools and tombs and ornate gates which provide entry. Next, you’ll take a boat ride along the river to view the stilt houses, fruit plantations and fishing villages. You’ll stop at the Tortoise Island where you’ll enjoy lunch in the orchard.

After lunch (own expense) you’ll visit An Khanh, a small village that specializes in fruit orchards and coconut sweets. If time permits, you can take a short cycling trip through the island. Then enjoy seasonal fruit, honey tea, and delicious coconut candies all to the sound of “Southern Vietnamese folk music”, performed by locals. When the tour is finished, you’ll transfer to Can Tho.

Upon arrive in Can Tho, you will check in hotel and have a rest.

In the evening, you may wander around the night market in the centre of the small town, or enjoy some drinks at the riverside bars.

Day 17 Can Tho – Saigon – Siem Reap | Morning Floating Market

Rise early in the morning for breakfast at your hotel where your private guide and driver will meet you to escort you to the pier of Can Tho for an adventure on the river. Your motor boat and captain will greet you and help you on board. You’ll be taken to the largest floating market in Can Tho where local farmers bring their bulk produce for sale. The trip there will see the banks with various flowers scattered throughout.

When you arrive at the market, you’ll see boats with colorful fruits and vegetables local to the region being traded in bulk. After this, you’ll venture up narrow canals to find a local fruit farm hidden in the natural landscape of the creek. You’ll have the chance to see local fruits such as mango, limes, jack fruit, durian and more being grown. Then you’ll have the chance to sit and enjoy fresh cut fruit before returning to town by boat.

After the tour, relax at hotel for short time and check out, then you will be driven back to Ho Chi Minh airport for flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, guide will meet and escort to your hotel for checking in, rest is your own leisure.

Day 19 Angkor Thom Ancient Capital

After breakfast, begin your explorations of the remains of an ancient civilization that once ruled much of Southeast Asia. Today, visit the ancient capital city of Angkor Thom. First on the agenda is Ta Prohm. Worn by time, rain, and overpowered by the jungle, this immaculate structure hidden under a canopy will leave you feeling as if you’d stepped into an adventure movie set.

Then visit Banteay Kdei (“Citadel of Chambers”). Continue on to the Victory Gate, the Terrace of the Leper King, the Royal Palace, and Baphuon and Bayon. Bayon sets itself apart with its almost 200 smiling faces, sure to make you feel welcomed on your second day to the Kingdom of Wonders. With its winding tunnels, chambers, and daring climbs, Bayon offers many picturesque moments to keep your camera busy.

In the afternoon, be prepared today for one of the Seven Wonders of the World: Angkor Wat.

Enter Angkor Wat and to view it’s amazing architecture and history. Angkor Wat possesses some of the longest and most intricate stone carving. This complex is four times the size of the Vatican City making it the largest religious site in the world. Spend the morning exploring through the many passages, levels, and chambers that once housed many treasures of the ancient world.

Day 20 Tonle Sap Lake, Kompong Phluk, Ox cart ride

In the morning, a half day excursion to the biggest Southeast Asia’s largest fresh water lake—Tonle Sap Lake. You’ll take a fun ox cart ride through the countryside, Continue on a boat trip to enjoy the beautiful lake views and mangrove forests. Spend rest of the morning at Kompong Phluk, the largest village on the lak , to discover the fascinating daily lifestyle of the local people who live on the water. Rest of your own leisure.

Day 21 Day in the Life

Your host family welcomes you into their home and lives for the day, learn about a day in the life of a typical village, visit the local Pagoda and school if possible and learn out about village customs and culture gaining new insights and experiences.

Activities on the tour may include planting rice, harvesting or transplanting rice depending on the time of year.  Other activities include weaving thatch for roof repairs, weaving wall panels, planting vegetable crops, tree planting, making prahoc or rice wine.  Every tour is different and activities will depend on the time of year, family needs and goings on in the village. On each tour you will also have the opportunity to plant a fruit tree for your host family providing a future food and potential income source.

These families receive a small payment for being the host family and a larger contribution is made to a village fund that is used for special village projects like water filters and water wells. We work with the families to determine the projects that need to be undertaken.

Your guide and driver will collect you from hotel then transfer you to Siem Reap airport for your short flight today take you to the coastal town of Sihanoukville.

Sihanouk Ville, named after King Norodom Sihanouk, lies along a beautiful peninsula overlooking the Gulf of Thailand with white sandy beaches and tropical islands off its south and west coast.

Your driver will be waiting at the airport with a Tours sign bearing your name on it ready to transfer you smoothly to the comfort of your hotel, which will take approximately 25 minutes. After Check in the afternoon is free to enjoy the beach and relax.

Day 26 Sihanokville – Bokor – Kampot – Kep by Car

Journey from Sihanoukville to Bokor Mountain, once a resort town but now mainly a deserted ghost town with eerie ruins to explore and photograph.  On a clear day enjoy panoramic views of the Cambodian Coastline and Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island from the summit.

Stop off and explore the sleepy riverside town of Kampot famous for the pepper grown here, colonial architecture and the lively local markets.

A short drive down the coast takes you to Kep, famous for delicious crab and other fresh seafood sold along the beachfront restaurants at the Crab Market.

Day 27 Kep – Full Day Relaxing

Nothing has been planned for you today so you can choose to explore the town, take advantage of optional activities or simply relax and enjoy the facilities at the hotel or laze the Beach.

Kep National Park offers a fairly easy hiking or mountain biking experience, a gently sloping trail winds past pagodas, though jungle where you may spy monkeys or other wildlife, and panoramic vistas along the way.

Rabbit Island is a great day trip from the mainland with just a short, fun 20 minute boat ride from the port at Kep to this tropical paradise.

Your driver will meet you at the hotel for the 3hr journey to Cambodia’s capital city Phnom Penh and enjoy the afternoon exploring the city.

Known as the “Pearl of Asia” Phnom Penh was considered one of the loveliest French-built cities in Indochina in the 1920s. Imposingly located at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac and Tonlé Sap rivers. This bustling city still retains a colonial feel with fine French architecture, wide boulevards and riverside promenade, boasting a heady mix of Restaurants and shops. Perhaps indulge in a blind massage, shop at the Russian or Central Markets or take a leisurely walk along the riverside before sunset cocktails and dinner at the Foreign Correspondents Club.

Day 30 Full Day Phnom Penh City Tour

In the morning visit the infamous Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and as you tour the museum, you’ll discover the brutality of the Khmer Rouge documented in the photos and memorabilia, including torture instruments and will have the opportunity to meet one the few survivors of regime.

Continue to Choeung Ek Killing Fields, the final destination for prisoners from Tuol Sleng. A large stupa (shrine) filled with over 8,000 human skulls acts as a memorial and grim reminder of the atrocities.

After lunch tour around the Royal Palace, home to the Silver Pagoda, named for the over 5,000 heavy silver tiles that cover its floors, where you can marvel at the collection of Buddha’s in gold, silver, crystal, and bronze.

Next visit the National Museum, built in traditional Khmer style it houses the world’s foremost collection of ancient Khmer artistic, archaeological, and religious artifacts including Angkorian era statues, lingas and other artifacts.

Day 32 Vientiane City Highlights

Vientiane, the charming capital city of Laos with rich heritage of Buddhist culture, is waiting for you to discover.

You full day city tour will take you to visit the highlights of Vientiane. Your will firstly get to know some more history of Laos by visiting the temple Wat Sisaket which is the oldest surviving temple with thousands of Buddhist images. The temple Wat Prakeo which housing the famous Emerald Buddha image really amazed the Indochina tour makers. Your full day Vientiane city tour will also visit the symbolic site That Luang Stupa and Patuxay Monument.

In the afternoon Buddha Park and enjoy a stroll around the park. Also known as Xieng Khuan, this unusual park is filled with over 200 Buddhist and Hindu statues. The quiet and tranquil setting along the Mekong River is a contrast to the slightly eccentric sculptures which were built in 1958 by a Laos shaman. The concrete sculptures are unique and intriguing, sitting majestically in the peaceful park. After Buddha Park start driving back to Vientiane. The rest of the day is free at your leisure.

Day 34 Drive to Vang Vieng

We leave this wonderful town after breakfast for our journey northbound on route no. 13. We will see some breathtaking scenery enroute as we pass through spectacular countryside towards the mountainous region. We make a stop along the way at Vang Xang, a famous archeological site dating back to the 11th century. We reach our final destination in the afternoon, the small town of Vang Vieng, which is nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. Its stunning scenery with a mixture of quiet water and limestone outcrops remains unspoiled, despite recent developments with the advent of tourism. On arrival at Vang Vieng, we cross the Nam Song River to Tham Jang caves and then enjoy a short trek through breathtaking mountain landscape to explore the Tam None Cave and some hill villages. Today ends with a superb panorama of the sunset reflecting over the Nam Song River.

Day 35 Vang Vieng – Tham Phoutham

After breakfast, we start our board on a local tractor through paddy field areas heading to Tham Phoutham, where your breath will be taken away seeing the most beautiful and famous limestone cavern, surrounded by natural forests. Along the way, you have chance to explore the local cultures by greeting the local villagers and learning about their daily lifestyle. There is a small natural pool in front of the caves where you can take a swim to refresh yourself from the hot climate or you could explore the nearby area. You will have a picnic lunch enjoying the scenery. After spending the day at the caves and its surrounding areas, we make our return to the Vang Vieng town, using local transportation or tractor. En route, we visit the ethnic minority villages of Hmong, Souay and Taidam villages meeting the warm and friendly hill tribe people and observing their traditional tribal costumes.

Day 36 Drive to Luang Prabang

Today you will continue your amazing Indochina Tour in Laos from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang escort you to hotel.

Day 37 Half Day Big Brother Mouse

The day starts with a visit to the Big Brother Mouse shop to select some books for the village visit.  We then head north by car along route 13, before taking a unpaved road to Ban Khia Luang village. We then have ample time to visit the school, play with the kids and watch them enjoy their new books.  We also take some time to explore the rest of the village, where you can see weaving and visit the local temple. We stop for lunch at the village, which can either be a western picnic lunch, or traditional Lao food such as sticky rice, laap and fresh vegetables cooked by the villagers.

Day 38 Khouang Si Waterfall and Ban Chan

Today we cross the Mekong River by boat, to the picturesque village of Ban Chan, a pottery village.  We then visit the morning Phousi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, a Hmong village, Ban Ou a Laoloum village and Ban Thapene, a Khmu village. This then takes us to the beautiful Khuang Si Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. We then return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon.

Day 39 Rice Paddies, Living land Farm

This morning, you’ll experience the process of making rice at a Living Land Farm, a community enterprise just outside of Luang Prabang, which promotes professional organic farming right next to village rice paddies. Join the interactive rice farming experience which actively benefits the local community, who showcase and maintain their traditional ways. Learn about bamboo weaving, tool and trap making, gardening and even blacksmithing. A Laos specialty lunch will be served as well.

Today, you will embark on the Luang Say boat for a 2 days cruise to Huay Xai, the small town locates at the border of Laos and Thailand, you will proceed to Chiang Rai in Thailand from the border pass there.

The boat will start at 7:00am, you will enjoy a continental breakfast while cruising to the Pak Ou Village which locates at the mouth of the Nam Ou River. You will have a shore excursion to visit the Tam Thing Caves of Thousand Buddhas.

Lunch will be a buffet on board and the boat will keep cruising upstream the Mekong River to a hill tribe village where you can watch the traditional process of Lao wishkey production.Our boat will stop at Pak Beng around sunset and check in Luang Say Lodge for overnight. Dinner will be arrange on the Luang Say Lodge’s terrace restaurant with a view of the Mekong River.

Day 42 Full Day Cruising to Chiang Rai

Enjoy breakfast at the Luang Say Lodge, then board the boat at 7:00am and keep cruising toward upper stream of the Mekong River. En route, you will stop to visit a local village to witness the rural life along the Mekong River and visit the Minority ethnic people. Lunch will be buffet served on board, and you will arrive at Huay Xai around 5:00pm. Go through the board and you will be welcomed by your local guide on the Thailand side of the border, then escorts you to your hotel in Chiang Rai.

Day 44 Doi Mae Salong – Discover Golden Striangle

The golden triangle is a mysterious region for most of Indochina tour makes, today you will enjoy a full day excursion to the heart of golden triangle region.

Your fascinating day will start from morning by firstly visit the Long Neck Karen village to see the long neck hill tribe people who relocated from the Thai and Myanmar border. If it is possible, you will also able to visit a Cock Fighting near the hill tribe village. Keep driving to Mt. Doi Mae Salong and visit the Chinese village on the top of the mountain. Lunch will be at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, continue the trip to the highest peak on the Thai-Myanmar border. Doi Tung, provides an opportunity to view enrooted many different Lahu and Akha village as well as terraced farming areas and see from distance the Princess Mother’s frigid flower Garden.  Doi Tung temple, built in A.D.1493, is located at the peak. Its scenery reminds one of Switzerland, features many unique images and temple architecture over looking the entire northern rice field plain.  Return to the hotel and rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 45 Chiang Rai | Chiang Mai

After breakfast this morning you will be transfer to Chiang Mai which take around 3 hour on the way you will visit the White Temple, is an unusual Thai temple designed by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat, who mixes traditional Buddhist temple architecture with pop culture references.   Upon arrive visit the 14th-century Wat Suan Dok, a white bell-shaped temple housing a 20-foot (6-meter) Buddha. See the large prayer hall and the unique open-sided chapel, then enjoy an opportunity to chat with a monk about Buddhism and temple life

Day 47 Tour of Chiang Mai

In the morning, start your cultural tour of Chiang Mai. First stop at Kad Ton Payom Market, renowned for its fresh fruits and flowers, aromatic spices and northern Thai cuisine. You can participate in the local tradition of almsgiving — offering food to Buddhist monks. Continue to the Buddhist temple of Wat Umong, nestled in the forested foothills of Suthep Mountain. Learn about the Buddhist proverbs posted throughout the grounds in English and Thai before you head inside to see the impressive Buddha statue. Keep driving around 30 minutes to Chiang Mai, visit the Meow Hill Tribe Village where locates on the Mountain Doi Pui and it was once famous for opium cultivation. Continue to visit the Temple Wat Doi Suthep where you will enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Chiang Mai City. If you like, here is also one of the best places to enjoy sunset. .

This morning you will visit the Grand Palace, a beautiful example of an ancient Siamese court, and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha statue. Then, ride like a Local by tuk-tuk to Wat Pho temple, to behold the 150-foot-long Reclining Buddha statue. Next, explore the city’s renowned klongs(canals) by boat and cruise the Chao Phraya River. Also visit Wat Arun and the Royal Barge Museum.

Day 56 Damnoen Saduak Floating Market /Kanchanabury and WWII

This morning visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market where you will experience the traditional Thai market with numerous vendors selling local foods, fruits and products from their boats. Explore the market before continuing on to Kanchanburi to learn about the region’s storied past and present-day culture. Made famous by the book and movie The Bridge on the River Kwai, the infamous bridge and railway is a notable part of the Kanchanaburi landscape. Visit the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre to get an understanding of the deadly, Herculean task many Thais were faced with decades ago.

Then continue to Prasat Muang Sing Historical Park. . The park is full of examples of the Khmar influenced architecture in this part of Thailand. Take some time to just relax here, before making your way back to Bangkok airport for your onward flight to Chiang Rai.
