Lakewood Country Club Description:
(parkland layout with multiple tees & emphasis on shot making)
Lakewood Golf Club is a decent course near to Bangkok city center. The Lakewood golf course comprises of vast green space and a luxurious housing estate. Although the golf course is relatively flat, the surrounding landscaping features more than 45 species of plants and more than 2,000 trees.Three nines (Lake, Wood, and Rock) make up the Lakewood course. All are similar in design with subtle doglegs, slightly undulating greens and water. The new nine are the best and golfers should try to play these holes when possible. Fortunately, water only seriously comes into play on a few holes.

Fairways are vast, and the Bermuda grass is well-mowed. The fairways drain well but are somewhat spongy and have virtually no roll on tee shots making the course play longer than the indicated yardage. Also impacting the length is the fact that the prevailing wind on the longest holes. The rough is typical Bermuda rough and not too severe, however during the rainy season; it becomes denser thus requiring at times the need to merely take a lofted club and get back on the fairway.

Good golfing at Lakewood can be assured, and some of the pars 3’s are excellent golf holes that rival the best in Bangkok. The seventh hole on the ’Wood’ nine, in particular, requires a tee shot well left, to avoid the huge lateral water hazard which stretches right across the fairway.

The caddies are all well trained with most having worked at Lakewood for many years. Green reading, with their help, usually is correct. Lakewood is a little more expensive than some other area courses due to its relative proximity to Bangkok city center and Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport as well as its popularity with the many Asian expatriate members.

Lakewood is an average golf course with friendly service and a nice parkland layout.
